Cycling presents a challenge for eyewear: it needs to be vented yet wind blocking, light yet extremely strong, and somehow capable of handling a wide array of light conditions that often change multiple times during a ride. Our new line of Specialized Optics is the first to specifically meet each of these requirements, making them the ultimate choice in cycling eyewear.
The secret is in our Adaptalite™ photochromic lenses, which automatically darken or lighten in response to UV conditions, eliminating the need for multiple lenses. Each of our mountain and road-specific lens formulations are made of indestructible NXT™ optical polymers, originally developed for demanding applications such as Apache helicopter windshield panels, providing the best in impact resistance and optical clarity while remaining exceptionally light weight.
AdaptaliteTM Photochromic Lens Technology
Adaptalite™ lenses automatically adapt to varying UV levels, changing from dark to light tint in less than 15 seconds. (Fig. A), while providing full time 100% UVA and UVB protection and exceptional optical clarity. Both mountain and road lens formulations have been optimized for their unique environments, each covering a different range. The mountain lens starts lighter to accommodate for low-light conditions, while the road lens achieves a darker lens at the other end of the spectrum to better handle long exposed climbs in the sun (Fig B.)
