Woodcock Cycle Is Going Green
With our new location we have taken several steps to become more environmentally friendly, here are some of the things that we are doing to make an effort.
- Used tubes and tire recycling
- Used bicycle parts recycling
- In our new location we have re fitted all the old light fixtures with high efficient t6 lights and ballast and installed new t8 lights in our bicycle showroom, also we recycled all the old wiring removed.
- All non sales areas have been retrofitted with motion sensor lights
- High efficient Dual Flush Toilet system
- We replaced 2 furnace/ac units with Electric 100% efficient Units
- Our Bags are biodegradeable
- Most popular tube sizes are offered in bulk (no packaging)
- In our Nutrition center we crush and recycle cans from our pop and energy drinks
- All of our cardboard boxes are recycled as well as plastic bags and containers and glass
- Employees are encouraged to Bicycle to work, most of our staff commute by bicycle year round and we are installing shower facilities for staff
- We have replaced our outside reader board sign with a high efficency LED sign
- We recycled the existing store and workshop flooring, reconfigured and reused the existing workbenches, as well as recycled old cigarette sales lockers and we are now using them as mechanics tool cabinets (a great way to store tools and eliminate more tobacco sales)
- All of the lights are turned off every night
- Ceiling fans in high ceiling areas, on in the winter to circulate heat, Off in the summer to reduce the amount of time the AC is running
- When remodeling our new location we re-insulated the entire bicycle showroom, where most of the outdoor walls of our building are located
- And of course we sell bicycles, a more environmentally friendly alternative to transportation with a wide selection of commuter specific bicycles
