What is Kids Of Mud?

The Kids of Mud program is a Manitoba Cycling Association sanctioned Learn to Ride and Learn to Race program for kids from ages 6 to 16. Woodcock Cycle-Paths is excited to kick off our 3rd year as a registered Kids of Mud club. We look forward to riding with you.

Riders will learn the basics of off-road cycling in a fun and supportive environment. Kids will have the opportunity to challenge their fitness and skills in a fun race series with other Kids of Mud club members (racing is optional). All riders are registered in one of these internationally recognized youth cycling categories: Under 17; Under 15; Under 13; Under 11; Under 9; Under 7* (5 & 6 year olds). All categories refer to the rider's age as of December 31 in the current year.

MCA Registration

Registration for Kids of Mud programs is completed with your desired club and generally begins in late January/early February. Clubs fill up fast! Contact the clubs about possible waiting lists (club contacts can be found under the club + schedule tab of this website).

In addition to the individual club program fees, all KOM participants are required to purchase an annual provincial membership from their province. In addition to club activities, participants will have the required insurance to attend races if they wish.  The clubs will do their best to assign a cycling category based on your child’s ability level.

Parent Participation

As per new (2021) MCA requirements, parents who wish to ride with their children, as well as all volunteers, will now have to be trained Tier 1 coaches.  All training requirement costs will be covered by Woodcock Cycle-Paths KOM Club
